Laphroaig Select takes its name from the special selection of American and European barrels. Inspired by Ian Hunter, who was the first in Laphroaig history to choose a different type of barrel. Oloroso sherry, American oak, PX, Quarter Casks and finally; Bourbon barrels. This diverse maturation resulted in 6 new flavor combinations from which Laphroaig’s FOLs could choose. Laphroaig Select has become the winner here. It is a full-bodied whiskey with an initial sweetness, followed by the classic dry, peaty, gray taste.
