Pale gold

Nose:
Complex and a great mouthfeel with apple, cider and poached pear with citrus zest, vanilla custard, linseed oil, desiccated coconut, crispy croissant and delicate spice. Faint smokiness and cinnamon. The apple and vanilla custard is accentuated with water.
-
Palate:
Salty, oaky and dry with old leather, cinnamon and nutmeg. A delicate sweetness is released with water. Creamy vanilla custard, ripe pineapple, stewed apple and poached pear tame salty freshly sawn oak and clove spice.
-
Finish:
Sweet apple then lingering dry, salty cedar wood with vanilla.

Conclusion:
The 1st in a range of limited mystery single malt releases by The Glenlivet. With a clever marketing campaign Master Distiller Alan Winchester and the people behind The Glenlivet released this Limited Release of only 3.500 bottles of the Alpha and made us wonder and use our senses. This because the company didn't releases any cask maturation, taste notes or information about their release. A clever way of marketing I would say.
