Taste note
-
Colour:
Dark amber
-
Nose:
Complex and smooth aromas of sherry, peach jam, stewed yellow plums, vanilla with barley sugars. Hints of candied ginger, fruit cake, pears and raisins. Over time the delicate smokiness move forward.
-
Palate:
Earthy notes kick off with peat and smoke, but it retains this sweet coating of candied apples and pear candy, liquorice, honey, vanilla biscuits, dark chocolate and toffee notes. Hints of cedar wood, rich spices and saltiness.
-
Finish:
Long, still fruity (citrus) and subtle spices. Still a hint of liquorice, chocolate, cedar wood. Subtle peat smoke in the very end.
-
Conclusion:
Beautiful presentation by Highland Park. The wooden standard and bottle is stunning. The whisky itself is strong enough and a good combination of fruits, spices and peat smoke. A sight note to this is the price point. It used to be 150 euro but now around the 500-700 euro.
